»Notes: Ode To The End

This was technically the first song I recorded on my new recording set-up, which is basically my old PC in my bedroom fitted up with Windows 2000, Fedora 10, Cooledit, Ableton and my new Audiophile sound card. I had just got the PC in place and had spent the entire day moving furniture around in my bedroom (the last time I'd moved the furniture around in my room was when I was nine) so I was relaxing in my 'new' room watching The Silence of the Lambs and I recorded this in about forty five minutes or so, just absent-mindedly fiddling aroudn on the guitar.

As such, this track isn't terribly well played, recorded or structured. The only thing I was really going for was something post-metalish, seeing as I've been listening to that a lot recently. I find post metal a very good idea in principle but I am disappointed by how all the post-metal bands all sound largely the same. It's very easy and relaxing to record this sort of stuff, moreso with my better recording set-up, so I might be doing more like this.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the name of this was something I had to kind of think of as I uploaded the MP3 and realised 'Post-metalish' isn't really a good name for a song. So yeah, Ode To The End, how thoughtful.

Slightly different from usual, I recorded this with Cooledit's metronome, which I think actually distracted me as much as it might have helped me keep on tempo.

These are mostly here for my convenience.
