»Notes: Thundeforce IV

Thunderforce IV was one of the most bitching games ever and appeared only on the Megadrive, thus making the Megadrive one of the most bitching consoles ever. Thunderforce IV was a side-scrolling shooter and as such was heavy on gameplay and wanton destruction though light on story (as if that mattered). You were the pilot of 'the best ship in the universe' and were tasked with destroying the evil computer from the third game... well I assume it was evil, either way, you had to destroy it and everything that might get in your way en route.

Thunderforce IV had one of the most metal soundtracks of any Megadrive game I ever played, which is why it's here. This is pretty much a straight cover of the intro music, the intro of course depicting the relentlessly bad-ass Thunderforce ship blowing stuff up whilst continuously barrel-rolling. Now that's style.

The only major changes I made from the original was lengthening the opening section to allow for a build-up using both guitars and I had to simplify some of what the original synth-guitars were doing seeing as it would sound ridiculous on real ones.

One problem I had with recording was that the palm-muted notes from 0:27 onwards came out too bassy. I could probably have got around this if I'd spent more time setting up the guitar sound or made a real attempt at 'mastering', but I didn't want to spend ages farting around what would in the end only be a forty one second track.

These are mostly here for my convenience.
